Cosmos Network is a scalable and interoperable blockchain platform that creates a decentralized ecosystem that connects different blockchains.
Cosmos Hub is the main chain of the ecosystem that supports staking the main ATOM token by running a node or delegating tokens to validators.
To stake ATOM tokens, you need to follow 3 steps.
About Exodus
One way to stake Cosmos tokens is using the Exodus Wallet.
Exodus Wallet is a multi-chain Exodus wallet browser extension allowing users to explore the multiverse of Web3 DeFi, NFT and more.
At the time of writing, the Exodus browser extension supports the Solana network and the Ethereum network, but has not yet been launched on the Chrome Web Store, so you will need to install it manually. To do this, you will need to enable developer mode in your browser in order to install and add the extension to your browser.
The Exodus crypto wallet app is available for Mac OS, Windows, Linux and iOS. You can install the extension for your operating system using the official website:
Step I. Launching Exodus app
Download the wallet file and run it on your desktop. Your wallet will already be created — you don’t need to do anything. On the main screen, it is possible to track asset statistics.
We recommend that you backup your wallet right away so that you can restore your wallet in case of file system corruption, your PC is lost or stolen, or other mishaps. If you want to skip this step, then go directly to the “How to fund your wallet” section.
To create a backup, go to the “Settings” section and select the “Backup” tab. Then think up and enter a complex password, and then click “Next”. Confirm the entered password.
Generate a seed phrase containing 24 words in a specific order.
Seed-phrase is a wallet recovery phrase in case of loss of access to it. Since the mnemonic phrase is the only way to regain control of the wallet, keeping it in a safe place is recommended. We also recommend using services such as LastPass or KeepassXC.
Step II. Depositing ATOM to Exodus
In the “Wallet” tab, find the desired cryptocurrency and scroll through the list manually. To fund your wallet, click “Receive”. Copy the address or scan the QR code through another wallet app. After the coins are credited to the balance, they will be displayed in the wallet and it will be possible to start staking.
Step III. ATOM Staking in Exodus Wallet
In the “Wallet” section you can find the “Earn Rewards” options. Enter the desired amount of ATOM for staking. Click “All” to choose the most affordable number of coins. Click “Stake ATOM”. The network commission for the transaction will be displayed directly under the bet button.
Disclaimer: Staking tokens are NOT liquid. It means you cannot sell, trade, or restake them. To do this, you need to use liquid tokens, which can be obtained after unstaking already staked assets.
The staking period for ATOM is 21 days from the date of delegation, during which time the tokens are illiquid. If you want to continue, click “OK” and wait for the transaction to be confirmed. Otherwise, click Cancel.
If everything is successful, Exodus will confirm that Cosmos Staking is active. To claim a reward or withdraw your atom, select the appropriate button on the top bar. To make more ATOM, earn rewards.
Once you receive a reward, it will appear in the “Available Rewards” line at the bottom of the screen and you can claim it right away.
How to Monitor ATOM Staking via Everstake Website
Tracking your transactions is more convenient with Everstake. Including ATOM staking, unstaking and rewards, and visualizing them on charts. You can also add multiple addresses to check them all. All you have to do is log in to everstake.one.
Select Cosmos, type your address and click “Add”.
By clicking on the balance on the left side of the menu, you will get all the general information about your balance along with a chart.
A detailed report on your ATOM stake transactions can be found on the Cosmos page in the list of delegation history and the history of remuneration, including all the basic data sorted by added addresses.
